Lauren Walker HBA, CAHP is an Ontario-based cultural heritage specialist with over 14 years of experience in the heritage planning, historic conservation and preservation field as a report writer, project manager and historical researcher.
Lauren is a professional member of the Canadian Association of Heritage Professionals in good standing.
She has a comprehensive understanding of international, federal, and provincial cultural heritage legislation and best practices, including and in-depth knowledge of the Appleton and Venice Charters, the Ontario Heritage Act, the Planning Act, and the Environmental Assessment Act, as well as the Standards and Guidelines for the Conservation of Historic Places in Canada and other relevant policy frameworks.
Her expertise as a historical researcher includes historic property research, environmental history, built heritage surveys, and cultural heritage landscape surveys. She has extensive experience completing Cultural Heritage Evaluation Reports (CHERs), Heritage Impact Assessments (HIAs), and Cultural Heritage Assessment Reports (CHARs) for Planning Act applications and Environmental Assessment Act projects.
She has experience with peer review and report editing, including the review of heritage reporting and heritage permit applications. She has also collaborated with property owners, municipal heritage committees, developers, and municipal staff to develop and implement cultural heritage policy. She excels in public engagement, organizing, designing, and facilitating public consultations to gather community input and support for cultural heritage projects. She is adept at developing outreach and educational materials to raise awareness and foster appreciation for heritage conservation.
